DCC Cautions Candidates Against Addressing Residents On the Roads

Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Nyando Sub-County Mr. Chaka Nyamawi is calling on candidates vying for various seats in the area to desist from addressing residents on the roads saying they were interfering with the traffic flow of vehicles along main highways.

Mr. Nyamawi cited an incident where some politicians stopped to address residents on the Ahero-Kericho highway and caused a traffic snarl along the road for five hours thus inconveniencing road users.

The DCC who was speaking at Awasi asked politicians to hold public meetings at venues, off the major highways to avoid inconveniencing other road users.

He asked youths in the area to stay clear of being hired by politicians to cause chaos at campaign meetings saying the youths stood to lose as the politicians moved on with their lives.

Nyamawi asked the residents to make all efforts and maintain peace during this electioneering period saying peace was paramount for all socio-economic activities in the country.

He said that every Kenyan had the right to participate in the elections and said that anyone who will be found engaging in acts of violence would face the law.
