Detectives in Embu launch manhunt for police officer suspected to have defiled a minor

Detectives in Embu have launched a manhunt for a police officer alleged to have defiled a four-year-old girl in Kithimu Ward in Manyatta Constituency on Saturday, July 23.

The incident according to Embu West OCPD Julius Kyumbule reportedly took place between 1 and 4 pm on the material day.

He said the young girl had been left by her parents playing with other children outside their rented house compound where the suspect who is also a tenant found her and lured her into his house and committed the heinous act.

Speaking while confirming the incident from his office on Wednesday, the OCPD said the parents on returning home found the girl missing and embarked on a search with the help of neighbors.

He said it was upon enquiring around that it was established she was picked by the suspect and led into his house.

Kyumbule said upon knocking, the suspect opened the door and during the engagement with the victim’s parents and neighbors, stealthily walked away.

He said the child was found lying unconscious on the suspect’s bed and rushed to Embu Level Five Hospital where she is currently admitted and receiving treatment.

The officer called on members of the public to assist them track down the suspect who has been on the run since then.
