DNA results fail to match those of an alleged defiler.

DNA results presented before a Nanyuki law court on Thursday did not match with that of an accused person alleged to have defiled and impregnated a minor.

Government analyst Ms Joyce Kihoro while testifying told the court that DNA samples of the new-born child didn’t match that of Cyrus Busienei the accused.

“In matters relating to genetic inheritance, every person inherits half of their DNA from their biological mother and the other half from their biological father and by examining the DNA from a person and their parents, it is possible to determine the elements of DNA gained from their biological mother and father,” argued Ms Kihoro.

“Based on the DNA profiles generated, Busienei (accused) is excluded as a biological father of the born child,” Ms Kihoro added.

According to the charge sheet seen by KNA, Busienei is alleged to have committed the sexual offence on diverse dates between March, 2020 and May, 2021 at Timau in Buuri sub county. The particulars further state that as a result, the minor became pregnant and gave birth.

Nanyuki Principal Magistrate Benson Mararo set a mention date for case on October 27, 2022.
