Wajir County Governor Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamed and his Deputy Ahmed Muhumed Abdi on Tuesday lauded a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Safe Surgical Aid and its partner United Hands Relief (UHR) for providing Health services to residents.
Speaking while receiving officials from the twin organisations Dr Abdihamid Noor and Alibash Mohamed accompanied by UHR Vic President Dr Omar Ahmed Shahin, the Governor and his deputy thanked them for conducting free medical camps at Wajir County Referral Hospital.
According to Dr Abdihamid, the exercise is part of ongoing charity medical camps in the County since last year.
“We discussed potential areas of collaboration to see how the County through the Health departments and other partners can expand such medical care programmes to other parts of the County for the benefit of our people”, said Governor Abdullahi.
While expressing their gratitude to the Safe Surgical Aid and United Hands Relief, the Governor and his deputy promised to channel county government efforts including working and partnering with similar stakeholders in the Health sector to fulfill the great vision for health provision as stipulated in their campaign manifesto.
The two also met with County Health Management team (CHMT) in a bid to update themselves on the human resource gap in the health sector and other challenges affecting the delivery of health services to the people of Wajir.
The Governor pledged to revive the Wajir County Referral Hospital and other health facilities and ensure they operate round the clock.
“They will be equipped with necessary drugs and staff to provide better quality health care to our citizens”, reiterated the County Boss.
“As we promised in our manifesto, we will reopen all non-operational facilities and stock them with adequate drugs at all times”, noted the Governor.
