Isiolo Governor Mr. Abdi Ibrahim Guyo has warned lazy and corrupt county workers to stop sending delegations of elders to plead with him on their behalf not to fire them.
Guyo said that some officers who had served in the last two regimes had started sending their clansmen to him so that disciplinary action is not taken against them.
The governor vowed to sweep out the ‘dirty’ and corrupt officers who steal from the county yet they had been earning salaries and allowances from the same employer.
Guyo who made impromptu visits to Isiolo referral hospital, the County Treasury, and the three national game reserves in Isiolo County, said that he has a responsibility to clean up any mess that had been hindering smooth delivery of services to the residents.
The governor said that county government workers including casuals would be getting their salaries by the fifth day of the month in as a way to motivate them.
He added that his administration would only promote the hard working officers and not those related to senior officers or the ones from his political side.
Guyo said that all heads of department must sign a performance contract and those who fail to achieve their targets would be sanctioned.
The governor added that setting realistic targets would improve service delivery to the electorate and take the services closer to wananchi including those in remote areas.
