The Youth in Kajiado county have been urged to embrace blue collar jobs to enable them have and create self-employment opportunities to boost their living standards.
Kajiado North and Kajiado West sub-county youth development officer Thomas Mose said empowerment of the youth through acquisition of technical skills will help them to create sust
ainable livelihoods.
“Learning technical skills will enable the youth to set up small-scale businesses to earn a livelihood. Change of attitude among the youth will enable them to identify self-employment opportunities in industries like agricultural sector,” said Mose.
The deputy registrar at Masai Technical and Training Institute Murimi Ndambiri encouraged the youth to join technical and vocational educational training institutions (TVET’S) to get technical skills citing the availability of education sponsorship programmes provided by the national government.
“The government is ready to sponsor the youth who are willing to enroll in TVET’s. The government is providing a financial support of thirty thousand per year. I encourage youths to join TVET’s so that they gain skills that will help them to improve their lives and the community,” said Murimi.
