Kalonzo Dismiss “Mitumba ban” Propaganda

The Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dispelled fears propagated by a section of a rival political wing that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition intended to ban the sale of second hand clothe once they assume power after August elections.

He dismissed the claims by the Kenya Kwanza Coalition brigade that the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was keen to outlaw the sale of the clothes popularly known as “mitumba “ insisting their assertion was purely propaganda to hoodwink the traders into their camp.
Kalonzo stated that he was at the launch of the Azimio manifesto and at no time did the coalition flag bearer Odinga declare to ban importation of second hand clothes as purported saying the Kenya Kwanza team was misrepresenting facts out of desperation after sensing imminent defeat during the coming polls.

He said that in their manifesto Azimio La Umoja aim at establishing local cloth manufacturing factories where mitumba traders will easily access their merchandise for sale locally as they focus on fast tracking growth of cotton sector.

The Wiper Party leader told residents during the launch of campaign for Parashina Sakimba, who is contesting for Kajiado South Parliamentary seat urged the electorates in Kajiado county to vote for Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga to realize their dreams and aspirations.

He said unlike other rival political formations that thrived on empty promises and falsehood The former Vice President said Azimio La Umoja government was determined to keep their pledges and promised to ensure the road connecting Ilasit and Taita Taveta was tamacked to ease transportation of goods and services

ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, urged the Maa community to back the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition saying the party manifesto had the vision and mission to improve the lives of Kenyans.

He also assured the residents in Kajiado South that justice will be accorded to the victims of Masimba shootings adding that the Azimio government would transform the police to serve rather than to oppress their subject.

Sakimba who is gunning for the seat on a ODM ticket promised to improve issuance of bursary for needy learners in the Constituency incorporating secondary schools students who were left out by the current MP.

He also promised to improve infrastructure, notably electricity connectivity which is at 40% to 80% within first two years.

The launch was also attended by Maina Kamanda, Peter Keneth, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole lenku among other aspirants for various electoral seats through Azimio La Umoja Coalition.
