Kericho Family in Agony after a vicious attack left kin for the dead

Parents of a 19-year-old man are appealing to well-wishers to help them clear a Sh 1.6 million bill incurred after he was admitted to hospital following a brutal attack by a gang of armed robbers.

Brian Angima, who has been helping run his parents’ eatery at Kapsoit shopping centre within Kericho county sustained serious head injuries from the vicious late evening attack at the business premises.

The unknown number of robbers attacked him with kicks and blows, hitting him on the head with a blunt object and leaving him unconscious.

The robbers who masqueraded as customers before attacking the teenager took off with the money from the eatery, personal documents and a mobile phone after executing the heinous act on 30th October 2022.

According to Angima’s mother Rebecca Chesang, the matter was immediately reported to Kapsoit Police Station while Angima was rushed to Kericho Referral hospital for treatment. He was attended to, but due to the seriousness of the injury, he was referred to Reale hospital in Eldoret for specialized treatment.

“He was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for eight days and underwent surgery on the head where he was discovered to have a serious internal haemorrhage,” said Chesang.

She said her son, who sat for KCSE last year at Kiptere Boys High School has now improved and is recuperating at the hospital’s general ward adding that doctors say his memory has been partially affected.

“At least he is talking now and he is trying to remember a few things but with a lot of difficulty. The injury was severe,” added Chesang.

The disturbed parents claimed to have sold family property in order to pay the medical bill but have reached a dead-end yet the patient continues to require attention hence the bill continues to rise at the Eldoret-based hospital.

“We have even sold the only plot we owned and now we are appealing to good Samaritans to help us pay the bill which is way above our ability. Our Mpesa till number is 9047873,” said Chesang.
