Police in Marakwet West sub county have arrested a man after he allegedly defiled, impregnated and then married a sixteen-year-old form one student.
Sources at the mixed day school where the girl was studying indicate that she went missing from 12th July this year, only to be found at the suspect’s house, following a search by relatives assisted by police.
Marakwet West police boss Bosita Omukholongolo confirmed that the suspect was subsequently arrested and is being held at Kapsowar police station pending prosecution.
He added that a medical examination established the minor was three months pregnant.
