A Makueni law court has today fined a man Sh50, 000 or to serve one year in prison for stealing a 4 by 6 inch bed.
Jastus Mutisya was sentenced by Magistrate Elizabeth Kemei after he pleaded guilty of stealing the bed valued at Sh 5,500 on August 15 in Kathonzweni market belonging to Katungwa Kioko.
He committed the offence with Catherine Mutua who pleaded not guilty for being in possession of stolen property.
According to the charge sheet, Mutua bought the bed from Mutisya not knowing that it was stolen. Her case will be heard on October 12.
The bed is reported to have been stolen from Kioko workshop in Kathonzweni market, Kathonzweni sub-location in Makueni County.
Mutisya has 14 days to appeal.
