A form-three student at Maseno School in Kisumu County died Friday after falling from the second floor of a dormitory.
Confirming the incident, Nyanza Regional Director of Education Nelson Simiyu said preliminary investigations point to suicide.
In the 4:30 am incident, the deceased, he said, jumped from the second floor of the dormitory and was pronounced dead on arrival at Aga Khan Hospital where he was rushed for treatment.
Simiyu said there was no foul play adding that the deceased left behind a suicide note whose contents he said were being investigated.
“What I can say is that the student terminated his life and left behind a suicide note. It looks like he had a disagreement with his parents,” he said.
The matter, he added, was being investigated by the police and a comprehensive report shall be released later.
He called for calm, adding that parents of the deceased visited the school where the incident happened.
