Mukurwe-ini residents can now access subsidized fertilizer at their factory

Residents of Mukurwe-ini constituency in Nyeri County can now access subsidized fertilizer at Mukurwe-ini NCPB deport.

This is after Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia heeded a request from residents who had asked the government to bring the services closer to them.

The MP now urged farmers to go for the fertiliser which he said it’s now easier to access and cheaper, noting that the long distance challenge is no longer a problem.

Kaguchia said the Government is committed to ensure there is accessibility of services to all people in the county.

He said the establishment of a civil registration office in Mukurwe-ini was his first success story and added that he has managed to set up an NCPB Depot in the constituency.

The depot is at Ichamara coffee factory where farmers can now go for the commodity.

“It’s now easier and cheaper to access subsidized government fertilizer,” said Kaguchia.

He said farmers who applied for the fertilizer through their area chief and have received alerts on their cellphones can now walk into Ichamara Coffee Factory, and purchase the fertiliser at Sh2500 per bag.

“I have received an approval message from the Ministry of Agriculture and farmers can now walk into the factory and purchase their fertiliser,” said Kaguchia.

He also added that only Farmers who are registered members of coffee factories can access the fertilizer through their respective coffee factories.

James Kamau a farmer at Ichamara thanked the MP for the good work adding that he is guaranteed that after rains farmers will get good returns.

Kamau said before they used to walk long distances but now the commodity is available at a closer and also thanked the MP for murruming all the roads in the area.

“Our MP is doing a good job and as farmers we need to take advantage of the rains and go back to our farms for better results,” said Kamau.

This comes after the government on August 2, 2023, President William Ruto launched the second phase of the fertiliser subsidy programme that reduces the price of the commodity for farmers countrywide from Sh3, 500 to Sh2, 500.
