Mung’o Health dispensary in Elgeyo Marakwet upgraded

Elgeyo Marakwet County health and sanitation department has upgraded Mung’o dispensary in Marakwet East to a health centre.

This comes as a result of increased work load and an increase in patients requiring specialized medical treatment visiting the facility.

The upgrade was done after key improvements were made to the dispensary to make it a fully-fledged health centre.

The more than Sh5million assorted equipment critical to the new status of the facility was delivered by County Chief Officer of Health and Sanitation Mary Kipchumba.

This included, maternity equipment: delivery beds, hospital beds, baby warmers, screens and incubators as well as laboratory equipment that are microscopes, a full haemogram machine and a centrifuge.

Speaking during the function that saw the opening of the new maternity wing, Kipchumba urged the residents to continue making use of the upgraded facility.

Residents also benefited from free screening for diabetes, Tuberculosis (TB), hypertension and HIV.
