Residents of Naivasha have joined other Kenyans in congratulating Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Azimio coalition presidential candidate Mr. Raila Odinga for appointing Narc-Kenya party leader Ms. Martha Karua as his running mate in the August 9 General elections.
Led by the ODM party Naivasha Parliamentary aspirant Antony Rebo, the residents thronged the streets of Naivasha on Monday to celebrate the appointment of Ms. Karua as Raila Odinga’s running mate saying it was a big win for women in Kenya.
Rebo said unlike the pair flying the Kenya Kwanza presidential flag in the forthcoming elections, the Odinga/ Karua ticket is untainted by any corruption allegations.
“Odinga and Karua are the best suited to fight corruption that has plagued this country for long,” the aspirant said and argued the residents to vote for the pair and him to clinch the Naivasha parliamentary seat.
Kenya Kwanza Presidential aspirant Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday appointed Mathira Member of Parliament Mr. Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate. Rigathi has several corruption cases pending before court.
A resident of Naivasha, Ms. Martha Wangari hailed Ms. Karua`s appointment saying it was a timely step towards solving the gender issue in political representation that has dogged this country for some time now.
Wangari also said the decision by Mr. Odinga to give his deputy the Justice docket will see her speed the wheels of justice and have cases that have been pending in court for a long time finalized.
