Narok Government to build an International Airport at Ewaso Nyiro

Narok County Governor Patrick Ntutu has said his administration is in the process of building an International Airport at Ewaso Nyiro area in Narok North Sub County where international tourists visiting the Maasai Mara National Reserve will be landing.

Ntutu said the many airstrips at the world-famous National reserve were a nuisance to the wild animals hence the need to look for a better solution for the international tourists who visit the Mara.

Ntutu spoke at Majengo area where he said initial plans were underway to ensure the international Airport was completed early enough.

When complete, said the governor, it will boost the economy of the area as many tourists will be spending much time in Narok town before proceeding to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

“This will be a big win for the hoteliers and the entire business community in large. It is an opportunity for our town to expand,” he said.

The tourists’ vans, he added, will also be picking tourists at the airport hence boosting the economy of the people around.

The first-time governor said his wish is to see all the people in the county growing economically and have their lives improved by the time he gets out of the office.

“My wish is to see businesspeople making more profits as the local residents find market for their goods. We want to improve the living standards of every person in this county,” reiterated Ntutu.

He reiterated that he has accomplished many projects in his first year in office saying every ward has had a major project implemented according to the priorities they highlighted during the public participation.

Maasai Mara National Reserve has eight airstrips with a good number of scheduled 45-minute flights operating from Wilson Airport -Nairobi.

Some of the airstrips at the Maasai Mara National Reserve area: Ol Kiombo, Keekorok, Serena and Kichwa Tembo airstrip.
