Uriri Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Nyamita has urged Migori residents to come out in large numbers to welcome President Dr. William Ruto during his visit to Migori County later this week.
President Ruto is expected to make his second visit to Migori County this week where he will be launching various projects as well as to inspect the previous commissioned projects across the county.
Nyamita said that in collaboration with the County government, they welcome the President to Migori County to launch and oversee the progress of some of the projects that he launched early this year.
Nyamita also added that every political leader in the county was welcomed affirming that there was no discord among the leaders of Migori.
The legislator said that as leaders of Migori, they will utilise every opportunity to share with the President some of the issues affecting the region.
“We would like the President to address the issue of flooding in Nyatike and the gazettement of Nyatike land as a forest land that may affect almost 60,000 residents,” said Nyamita.
The Uriri legislator also thanked President Ruto for waiving a debt of Sh7.2 billion owned to Sony Sugar to make the company a proper investment.
He also noted that President Ruto commissioned projects like the Uriri Level Three hospital and the affordable housing in Kuria that were already under construction.
Nyamita also disclosed that the expansion of the Gogo dam in Uriri Sub County from two megawatts to eight megawatts was also part of President Ruto’s itinerary.
Migori County Commissioner David Gitonga affirmed that the National government was working with the County government to ensure development projects are realised in Migori County.
