Nyaribo survives impeachment as proponents fails to raise threshold

It is a sigh of relief for Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo after a motion to remove him from office flopped on legal technicalities.

The motion was tabled on September 26 by Esise ward MCA Josiah Mang’era who based it on two grounds of gross violation of the constitution of Kenya and abuse of office.

Other accusations raised by the proponent of the motion were illegal recruitment of county staff, disobedience of court orders, partial and dysfunctional revenue automation systems, delayed completion of county headquarters and nepotism in hiring county staff.

16 of the county assembly members voted in favour of the motion as 18 voted to shoot it down ending a week-long anxiety in the Assembly and the public.
