Nominated Senator Dr Alice Milgo has said members of the National Assembly and Senate should pass the Vocational Education and Training Bill that the Senate education committee developed to help in the management of the vocational education and training institutes in the country.
Dr Milgo has urged the legislature to pass the vocational education and training bill that is before the National Assembly, which had already been passed by the Senate.
The Senator who was the chairperson for the education committee was addressing graduates at Emkwen vocational education and training institute, said that the Senate education committee members did the bill to help in the provision of funds to help in managerial issues bedeviling institutions.
“I was the chairperson of the Senate committee in charge of education and one of the most important bills we passed is the Vocational Education and Training Bill which we want to develop into a law that will assist in the management of the vocational training institutes in our republic,” explained Dr Milgo.
“I am urging the honourable members of the National Assembly to consider passing this motion for our students in vocational training institutes to benefit from government resources as their counterparts,” said Dr Milgo.
She asked the county government to press hard in employing trainers in these institutes arguing that students are faced with an acute shortage of trainers.
On the other hand, Bomet deputy governor Shadrack Rotich pointed out that the executive had expressed the intention of employing the trainers to the Public Service Board.
He stated that the Board was yet to advertise these positions and the interviews that would help in employment as per the procedure.
