PWDs benefit from assistive devices and tools of trade

The National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK) has given assistive devices and tools of trade to Persons with Disabilities (PWDSs) in Elgeyo Marakwet.

The function held at the Deputy County Commissioner’s compound in Marakwet West Sub County saw 14 people get wheel chairs, elbow crutches, walkers, sewing machines and farming tools.

One individual also benefited from a cheque disbursement for the purchase of livestock.

Speaking during the event, Assistant Manager, Isaac Aliyah said the cheque for purchase of livestock is dependent on the beneficiary as he decides on what kind he wants to buy.

He urged PWDs in the region to apply for funds so that NFDK can be able to help a lot more people.

The assistant manager said that application forms are available at chiefs’ and assistant chiefs’ offices and are submitted to the social welfare offices for help.

He also urged those who are not registered under the social welfare to register so that they can benefit from the resources available.
