Three people died on the spot Wednesday night after the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in an accident along the busy Nairobi -Namanga highway.
The vehicle which had three passengers was heading towards Namanga direction from Kajiado town when it rammed into a lorry awaiting inspection at Ilbisil roadblock.
According to eye-witnesses, the salon vehicle which was being driven at a very high speed, bypassed five other vehicles waiting to be checked at a road block and rammed into the lorry before overturning.
The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to Ilbisil dispensary for treatment but later escaped and is being sought by police. The driver of the lorry and his conductor sustainable minor injuries after the lorry overturned due to the impact.
Oloililai Sub-County Police Commander Joseph Mutira confirmed the accident and urged motorists to avoid speeding and exercise extra caution on the road.
“The accident was caused as a result of speeding and carelessness. I want to urge motorists to exercise extra caution on the road to avoid accidents,” he said.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to Kajiado Referral hospital mortuary.
