Three vandals arrested over transformer theft

Three people are currently being detained at the Kisii Police Station in connection with the increased theft of transformers in the County.

In a press release, Kenya Power has accused Rose Machoge, Albert Isaboke, and Joyce Magoma (scrap metal dealer) of being in possession of transformers they believe belong to the company and were arrested during operations by police in Oyugis, Mosocho, Nyakoe, and Kisii towns.

“Rose was found in possession of suspected 10 liters of transformer oil and a stolen Kenya Power post-paid meter while Isaboke was arrested with suspected stolen Kenya Power transformers. Magoma was nabbed with assorted copper wires,” read part of the statement.

The Kenya Power Security Service Manager, Major (Rtd) Paul Nyaga urged the community to be on the lookout for any suspicious activities around electrical installations and report any vandalism.

The three suspects will be arraigned at the Kisii Law Courts on October 25 to answer charges.
