Police on Thursday evening, intercepted 16 illegal immigrants among them two minors of Eritrean nationality together with two Kenyans in Loruk, Baringo County
Confirming the incident Tangulbei Sub-county Police Commander (OCPD), Kobia Bariu, said the immigrants were arrested along Tangulbei- Loruk road which borders Baringo North and Tiaty Sub-counties, Thursday evening, en-route to Nairobi via Nakuru.
He also added that the two adult male Kenyans were drivers of the vehicle, a Toyota land cruiser that was ferrying them.
Bariu said police became suspicious after they declined to stop at a roadblock hence forcing them to pursue the vehicle.
“We arrested the immigrants along Tangulubei -Loruk road after failing to stop, forcing the police to chase them where they were arrested and detained at Loruk Police Station,” Bariu said.
The OCPD said the immigrants passed through Moyale, Marsabit Wamba, Baragoi then to Baringo enrooted to Nairobi via Nakuru.
The illegal immigrants appeared before a Kabarnet Court yesterday.
