Four die in Narok accident

Four people died while several others were injured after the vehicles they were traveling in were involved in grisly accidents on the Maai Mahiu- Narok- Bomet highway in two different incidents.

Confirming the incidents, Narok County police boss Kizito Mutoro said one of the incidents happened at Siyapei area in Narok Central Sub County when a driver of a lorry registration number KBX 043B joined the main highway from a feeder road without giving way to an oncoming lorry KCH 519K.

As a result, the driver of the lorry KBX 043B by the name Bernard Mwaura hit the other lorry driven by an unidentified male adult who died on the spot.

The said driver (Mwaura), lost control and hit another oncoming motor vehicle registration number KBH 442Q then rolled severally before plunging into river Siyiabei.

The lorry driver Mwaura and the turn boy of the lorry KBH 442Q died on the spot making the number of the deceased to be three.

Four other people who were traveling in the lorries were seriously injured and were rushed at Narok County Referral Hospital while the bodies were taken to the same facility morgue.

In the second incident, the driver of a matatu vehicle registration number KDC 843C belonging to Farasi Sacco died on the spot after the vehicle he was driving was involved in an accident at Tekero area in Narok South Sub County.

The driver who was travelling from Narok town side towards Bomet failed to keep his lane and as a result hit a lorry transporting mattresses that was moving from the opposite direction.

Another matatu vehicle KDC 640 D belonging to Trans Line sacco hit the canter vehicle from behind and stopped on the left side of the road towards Narok direction.

The driver of the matatu vehicle sustained injuries on the left leg and his fourteen passengers escaped unhurt. The canter driver and his turn boy also escaped unhurt.

The passengers who were in KDC 843C sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Narok County Referral hospital for treatment. The driver’s body was taken to Longisa County Referral Hospital in Bomet County.

The two incidents happened only a day after another person died while undergoing treatment at Ololulunga sub County hospital following an accident at Ololulunga area along the Narok-Bomet highway.
