Board launched to ensure Raila gets all the votes in Siaya

A board whose main agenda is to mop up all the votes in Siaya for Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga has been launched in Siaya.

Under the chairmanship of lawyer Dr. Maurice Okumu, the 12-member board that has representatives from all the six constituencies will focus on ensuring 100 percent voter turnout in the county.

Addressing the media during the inauguration, the board chairman, Dr. Okumu said they will work closely with the officials of all political parties affiliated to Azimio la Umoja in the county.

Okumu said that already, they have worked out a strategy to incorporate all candidates vying for various seats from all parties.

He said that in the past, the voter turnout in the county had been between 65 to 68 percent and it was upon his board to ensure that the figure improves.

“We have already put in place strategies that will enable us to bring together all the candidates who are running for various seats under the umbrella of the Azimio la Umoja coalition,” said Okumu who was flanked by board members Jacinta Maganda, Albert Onyango Mitere, Charles Omollo Kowi, Joseph Ogutu, Patrick Omondi and Nancy Wamayi.

He said that his board will incorporate other stakeholders such as religious leaders, the business community and professionals to help sensitize the public on the need to turn up in large numbers and vote.
