Boy 13 commits suicide

A 13-year-old boy has committed suicide at Kanamkemer village in Lodwar.

According to the boy’s mother Dorcas Asmit and sister, the boy got angry when the mother interrogated him over his drop in performance in school after they closed school.

The deceased, Allan Kipkoech was a pupil at Harmony academy school in Lodwar.

“I asked him why he had dropped in his school academic performance after I went through his report card,” said Asimit.

She says she went to the boy’s grandmother and 30 minutes later received news that he had committed suicide after locking himself in the house.

This is after Sharon Achemee, the third born in the family wanted to access the house and realized it was locked from inside.

“When I found that the house was closed from inside I realized all was not well. Through the window I saw my brother dangling from the roof,” Achemee said, adding, he had hanged himself with a leso.

The family raised an alarm that attracted the neighbours who rushed to the scene.

Harmony Academy Head teacher Clinton Gichaba said the pupil, who was admitted to the school in May this year, left the school in a jovial mood.

“It is sad we have lost a highly disciplined boy at a tender age. We call for thorough investigations to establish the real cause of death,” he said.
