Cheers as 300 plot owners in Narok town get title deeds

Over 300 plot owners in Narok town can now breathe a sigh of relief after the county government issued them with title deeds.

While distributing the titles to the beneficiaries at the William Ole Ntimama stadium, Narok County Governor Samuel Tunai asked the land owners to take advantage of the title deed to grow economically instead of selling their pieces of land.

“The title deeds you are getting today should be used in the right way to make you richer. You can use them to borrow money from financial institutions to expand your businesses,” advised Tunai.

Tunai who is vying for the senatorial seat a UDA ticket after serving two terms as area governor on is among ten others vying for the same seat that is currently held by Ledama Ole Kina (ODM).

Elizabeth Wanja, one of the beneficiaries said the traders can now invest in big projects worth millions of shillings because they have assurance of land ownership.

“Now we can borrow money from banks using the title deed and increase our investment. We thank Governor Tunai for fulfilling his promise,” he said.

Narok township Member of County Assembly (MCA) Bernard Parsaloi said there was a big problem in plot allocation as in some cases, one plot was allocated over five people making people engage in constant battles.

Those who were supposed to resolve the issue, he said, were the ones causing more trouble as they took advantage of the people to grab the disputed land.

“When I came into office, I promised that this problem had to end. This is why today we are issuing title deeds to all the town land owners regardless of their tribe,” he said.
