Kanini Kega’s aide released on Sh100,000 cash bail

Personal Assistant to Kieni Member of Parliament, Kanini Kega, has been released on a Sh100,000 Cash Bail by the Nyeri Law courts after spending five nights at the King’ong’o Prison.

Dickson Ndirangu Mwangi was accused of assaulting and causing grievous bodily harm to Jeremiah Gichuhi on June 30 this year at Gamerock, contrary to section 234 of the Penal Code.

The accused was on July 8, presented before the Nyeri Principal Magistrate, James Macharia, to answer to the charges and he entered a not guilty plea before he was remanded at the King’ong’o Maximum Prison.

The case will be mentioned on August 3.

In the same court, a 16-year- old boy accused of assault was paraded before Principal Magistrate, Mathias Okuche.

Wilson Nyaga, a form one student is accused of assaulting his alleged 16-year-old girlfriend.

According to the charges, Nyaga who lives with his uncle, is accused of wilfully and unlawfully beating up Ann Nyakio causing bodily harm.

The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to Bellevue dispensary in Nyeri town and was later referred to Nyeri County Referral hospital.

Later Nyaga destroyed and burned her clothes. The incident is said to have taken place on July1, at Kabendera village in Kieni-West Sub-county.

A Children Officer from the Nyeri County Referral Hospital recommended that the accused be committed to Nyeri Remand Home, as the matter proceeds before the Court, since the community was bitter and hostile and may pose a threat to his safety.

The remorseful teenager pleaded guilty to the charges. The matter is set to be mentioned Thursday July 14.
