Dr. Samuel Mwangi Mwaura has been appointed and sworn in as the Nakuru County Secretary and Head of Public Service following approval by the County Assembly.
Dr. Mwaura has since November 2022 served in acting capacity, advising Governor Susan Kihika’s administration on Public Sector Management.
Deputy Governor David Kones exuded confidence in Mwaura as being key in spurring development, while guiding the Cabinet for improved service delivery.
“He has not disappointed us, but has steered the Cabinet to spur service delivery to the citizens of Nakuru,” added Deputy Governor Kones.
Kones urged the CS to ensure the performance contract signed recently is implemented to the letter, noting that Dr. Mwaura was well conversant with plans and wishes of the people of Nakuru County.
Speaker Joel Karuri noted that service delivery was key to the County, hoping that Dr. Mwaura’s good will for the public, his hard work and determination to see Nakuru succeed would continue.
“The process conformed to all the requirements of the law. After a long period, they submitted Dr. Mwaura’s name after interviewing many Kenyans who showed interest in the position,” said majority leader Alex Langat, who was part of the panelists that vetted him.
“We are ready to support him to bring out the synergies that can be tapped when the County Assembly and executive work together,” noted Nominated MCA Mercy Kilel.
Residents of the county praised the open and transparent processes calling on Dr. Mwaura to streamline service delivery and whip ‘arrogant’ County Executive Committee Members.
“We are confident that the CS, who has been open to the members of the public, will deliver on his mandate. We hope he will be able to successfully mediate between the County Public Service Board and the striking doctors,” added Activist Dan Murugu.
Dr. Mwaura has previously served in Nakuru County as Chief Officer for health between 2013 and 2017.
