Raymond Moi loses Rongai MP Seat

Paul Kibet Chebor of UDA has won Rongai constituency seat in Nakuru County after defeating the incumbent MP Raymond Kipruto Moi in a hotly contested election.

Chebor popularly known as ‘Mamba’ who was an MCA of Solai ward for the last ten years won by 27,021 votes against 14,715 garnered by Raymond who was defending his seat on KANU ticket.

The MP elect who hails from Baringo was declared the winner of the election by the constituency returning Officer Hilda Lokwawi at Nakuru Teachers College, Salgaaa and urged his competitors to join him in developing the constituency.

A former area Member of Parliament Luka Kigen who vied on CCM ticket managed to obtain 593 votes only.

The election for the constituency which has 84,625 registered voters had been postponed on August 9 following a mix-up in ballot papers.
