The residents of Maua in Igembe South sub-county have lauded the county government of Meru for chatting and beautifying a relaxation place within the town.
The Maua Park is located only a few metres from the main road and directly faces the government offices.
Its serene location brings breathtaking scenery with Mboone stream passing adjacent the park.
The park is beautified by green grass and a variety of flowers, trees and sitting benches to make sure the residents are comfortable and enjoy their rest in the park.
The green grass will enable people to sun bask by just lying on the grass and enjoy the rays of sun hitting their body.
According to Maua town environmentalist Frank Mwendia the Maua People’s Park barely started three months ago and at a cost of about Sh. 2 million for decoration, construction and plantation of grass, flowers and trees.
Speaking to KNA Mwendia maintained that the project is almost to its completion and soon it will be officially launched with only public latrines and shops remaining.
When asked about entry charges Mwendia said that there will be no fee charged for one to access the park since it is a government project which is meant to serve the people as the name suggests.
He also maintained that it will not only serve as a resting place but also be used for photo shooting and ceremonies.
One of the residents, Robert Kinyua congratulated the county government for the move and urged them to clean the stream passing adjacent the park.
