David Mwalika of Wiper party wins  Kitui Rural MP seat

David Mboni Mwalika of Wiper party has retained Kitui Rural Member of National Assembly seat during yesterday’s elections for the seat.

Mwalika got 19,745 votes while his only competitor Charles Nyamai of UDA got 10,178 votes while rejected votes were 166 votes.

The elections recorded low turnout of voters with only 30,089 voters who casted their votes thus being a 54.7 percent voter turnout.

Kitui Rural constituency had 157 polling stations with total number of 55,000 registered voters.

Mwalika was handed over certificate for the constituency MP elect by the constituency returning officer Ms. Winfred Ndoti.

The MP elect while speaking after being declared the winner at South Eastern of Kenya University which was the constituency tallying centre, appreciated the voters for re-electing him to serve for the next five years.

“I would also like to thank all my supporters including Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and all voters who turned up and voted for me,” he said.

He then assured to serve residents of Kitui Rural to foster development as he had promised them during his campaign.
