Inua Jamii Cash Transfer beneficiaries receive Sh.109.9 million in Laikipia

The Government has disbursed Sh.109.93 million aimed to cushion Inua Jamii beneficiaries in Laikipia County.

Laikipia Social Development Service Coordinator, Zephania Maina, speaking to KNA in Nanyuki town, said, about 13,741 beneficiaries had received the stipend in their respective bank accounts.

“The Cash Transfer is for the March-April and May-June payment cycle respectively. A total of 10,722 older persons, 2446 orphan and vulnerable children and 573 persons with severe disability are each getting Sh8000,” said Maina.

Maina called on the beneficiaries and their caregivers to carry their Inua Jamii card, Beneficiary’s and caregivers’ national identification card for seamless payment process.

The Coordinator, however, urged the beneficiaries not to overcrowd in their payment service providers aimed at taming the spread of Covid-19 virus.

He sent a stern warning to con artists against taking advantage of the vulnerable groups where he appealed to beneficiaries to report any issues of malpractices to the relevant authorities.

Maina further called on the Inua Jamii cash transfer beneficiaries to use the stipend for the intended purposes like buying medication and other essential household commodities.

Maina also lauded the government for cushioning the vulnerable groups in a timely manner.
