Makueni senatorial candidates have urged leaders from entire Lower Eastern Region to embrace unity while advocating for the region’s interest that benefit.
The six candidates were speaking on Wednesdays at a local vernacular radio station Musyi Fm during the Makueni senatorial debate.
Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana who is vying for senatorial seat called upon Ukambani leaders to work together in order to bring development in the region.
“I urge people and leaders of Ukambani to work together to enhance development in our region,” said Kibwana.
His words were echoed by Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo who is also eyeing for the Senate seat on Wiper Ticket and Patrick Mbau on Narc Kenya ticket.
“Unity is what will bring development in Makueni and Ukambani. Our church leaders should be at the forefront to bring all Ukambani leaders together despite their political parties,” said Maanzo.
The Makueni legislator said the senatorial seat need experienced person who will lobby for more resources from the National Government, donors and partners to the county government and he is best suited to be the senator.
“Makueni senatorial seat needs an experienced person who has connections to be able to bring resources to county government for developments, “added Maanzo.
However, Maanzo added that he is ready to work with anyone among them if he loses the seat on 9th August general election.
On his part Mbau said that he will push for Ukambani unity while supporting Kalonzo Musyoka presidential dream.
