A 34-year-old man was lynched by a mob in Makueni after he defiled and killed two minors in Ivumbu village in Kiteta/Kisau location in Mbooni East Sub-county on Saturday morning.
The man identified as Charles Musembi Makau was set ablaze after he defiled the two minors aged seven and ten years before strangling them and locking the bodies in the house he was staying in on Saturday.
The mother of the children Anne Nduu Kivavu who had gone to the river to fetch water, went and reported about her missing children at Utunene Police Post at 1.30pm on Saturday.
Police swung into action and arrested the man who hails from Kangundo Sub-county in Machakos County and had been working at a neighbour’s house as a houseboy for the last one month.
Sources told KNA that the suspect was alleged to be under the influence of drugs when he committed the heinous act.
Both deceased siblings were pupils at Kithuia primary school in grade 1 and 3 respectively.
“The suspect was forcefully snatched from the hands of the police by irate members of the public after they found the two lifeless bodies of the innocent girls in his house. They set him ablaze and was burnt beyond recognition,” said the Makueni County Police Commander Mr. Joseph Ole Naipeyan while confirming the heinous incident to KNA on Saturday evening.
The three bodies were moved to Tawa hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
