Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino has pleaded with voters in his constituency to vote for ODM party candidates to strengthen Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
Owino said that the ODM candidates were better placed to champion for faster development in the region even as he pleaded with his constituents to elect him so as to complete development projects he has initiated in the constituency.
He expressed fears that the projects were likely to stall should they not vote him in the August general election.
Some of the incomplete projects he initiated are construction of a laboratory and library for Ndhiwa Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and constructing ICT hubs in three wards in the constituency.
He noted that youths are trained at the ICT centres so they could access employment through digital platform.
He said that the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) office has acquired land for constructing agricultural college near Mirogi trading centre noting the projects would hugely benefit residents once they start operating.
“The development master plan comprises of projects that will transform the lives of Ndhiwa people. I’m seeking reelection as an MP to ensure we realize the much needed growth,” Owino said.
Speaking after he was cleared by the electoral body to contest the parliamentary seat, Owino called for a peaceful campaigns in the constituency. He urged his opponents to carry-out their campaigns peacefully and shun hate speech.
Owino is facing stiff competition from former MP Agostino Neto of United Green Movement (UGM) and independent candidate Michal Agwanda.
Ndhiwa IEBC Returning Officer Rebeccah Abwaku said they were expecting to clear a total of five contestants for the seat.
The constituency has more than 110, 000 registered voters.
