TSC to recruit 63 teachers in Mwala sub county

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will recruit 63 teachers in Mwala sub county in the 14,000 vacancies advertised by the commission last month.

Subcounty TSC Director Bernard Abuga said the posts include 34 teachers for secondary schools and 29 for primary schools.

Abuga said out of the 29 posts slotted for primary schools, the commission is seeking to replace 27 teachers that have exited the service either through resigning, death or retirement.

“The remaining two is an additional recruitment. In secondary schools seven posts are for replacement while the rest is recruitment,” he said.

The TSC director speaking today to KNA at the Mwala Deputy County Commissioner’s grounds during the launch of the second phase of construction of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms said 315 applicants have already been shortlisted awaiting interviews.

“We shortlisted top five candidates for each post. We have already forwarded the names to the headquarters and we are waiting for a response on the date for the interviews,” noted Abuga.

He said the interviews for secondary school teachers will be conducted at Masii Boys while primary school teachers will face the interview panel at the TSC offices in Masii.

The director however disclosed that the interviews for the P1 teachers will be done through a generated merit list.

The recruitment for the teachers caused an uproar in the country after 356,000 jobless teachers applied for the 14,000 posts advertised country wide.
