Speaking Thursday during a security briefing of candidates at the Deputy County Commissioner’s hall the police commander assured the aspirants of beefed security during their campaigns.

”I want to give you my personal assurance that we are going to provide enough security to each one of you regardless of your political affiliation, we shall however be firm, fair and just,” he said.

Kirui urged politicians to adhere to the code of conduct and desist from activities that may breach peace.

He said disruption of political meetings, physical attacks, verbal threats and use of criminal gangs during the campaign period will not be tolerated and disciplinary action will be taken against those engaging in such activities.

”We will also not allow zoning of certain areas either by political parties or gangs. Every aspirant has the right to campaign anywhere without any fear. Publishing and distribution of leaflets with propaganda or defamatory remarks is also outlawed,’ ‘added the sub county police commander.

Kirui exuded confidence that police were prepared for the election and called for cooperation from all stakeholders.

”Our level of preparedness is very high. As the police service we have been monitoring all early signs on electoral violence and so far so good, however we need each and every one of us to play their part,” he added.
