Regional Commissioner Assures Investors of Security Ahead of Polls

The Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mr. Maalim Mohamed has assured investors and the business community in Kericho County and the entire Rift Valley region of adequate security as they carry out their businesses during, and after the August 9th polls.

Mohamed has guaranteed the business community within the region that there will be no disruption of their daily businesses since all contingency measures had been put in place to ensure the economy of the region runs with normalcy during the electioneering season.

The RC urged the business community not to close their businesses because of elections but instead continue with their normal operations saying that Kericho County will remain peaceful.

Mohamed further refuted the report by National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) that termed Kericho County a hotspot saying the security team in the County was alert and that the residents were peaceful and united.

Speaking to the press after holding a series of security meetings Tuesday and addressing the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) at Kericho High School, the Regional Commissioner who was flanked by the Kericho County Commissioner Mr. Kamau Karungo stated that all security measures were in place to ensure law and order is maintained during the elections.

” I am assuring the country that we are confident that no chaos will be experienced in Kericho County. All Kericho residents will be brothers’ keepers and that no one should move out of the County because of elections,” said Mohamed.

The Regional Commissioner in his two days’ visit to Kericho held meetings with a section of opinion leaders, the clergy who assured him that there is cohesion and integration among the various tribes coexisting in the County.

During the RC visit to the County, he promoted Kapsoit Location Chief Nancy Ruto to the position of Senior Principal Chief and will now oversee all the chiefs and their assistants in Kericho county.

Earlier the RC held security meetings with the Regional Security Intelligence Committee and also held a meeting with the Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs).
