Two suspected thieves lynched in Embu

Two suspected thieves were Monday night lynched by mob in Kiamuringa area in Mbeere South Sub-county, Embu, in connection with theft of electric cables belonging to Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).

The two men were spotted by area residents ripping off wires from electric poles and immediately took off prompting the villagers to give chase.

However, the proverbial 40 days of a thief had finally reached for the two said to be notorious criminals as they were cornered by the irate mob minutes later and beaten unconscious before their bodies were set on fire.

Mbeere South OCPD Inviolata Lumati while confirming the incident via a phone call, said they are yet to identify the two as their bodies were burnt beyond recognition.

Charred remains of the suspects were taken to Embu Level Five Hospital morgue for preservation and identification.

The OCPD called on anybody whose kin may be missing to report to OCS Gachoka Police Station or the nearest one.

She further cautioned locals against taking the law into their own hands and instead handover suspects to the police for the criminal justice to take course.
