CBC Classrooms in Laikipia near completion.

The construction of Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms in Laikipia county is at 96 percent completion and will be ready for commissioning in a weeks’ time,

Speaking to the media in Nanyuki, County Quality Assurance and Standard Officer Dr. Amadi Mugasia said 101 schools in the region had been allocated funds for the classes.

“From next week, CBC classrooms will be complete pending commissioning. There were 103 classrooms to be constructed, 46 in Nyahururu, Laikipia central 22, Laikipia North and East four and 17 classrooms respectively and the rest in Laikipia West,” said Dr Mugasia.

Further, the officer noted the form one enrolment was seamless in the region with Nanyuki High school recording 368 students who had joined the school out of the expected target of four hundred students.

“Form ones started reporting from Wednesday last week. Some parents are still preparing themselves. We expect by the end of the week that all parents would have taken their children to school,” said Dr Mugasia.

However, he noted that schools in Laikipia North sub county had reported low turnout.

He warned parents who fail to take their children to school that action would be taken against them.

“After two weeks of form one reporting, there will be a crackdown. We will find out from primary school heads and local administration including chiefs if there are students who haven’t reported and why,” said Mugasia.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha had decried low turnout of learners joining secondary schools in some areas in the past week.
