IEBC clears Tharaka Nithi Governor for gubernatorial seat

The Independent, Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Tuesday cleared Tharaka Nithi Governo,r Muthomi Njuki, for the gubernatorial seat re-election in the up- coming August polls.

Muthomi and his new deputy, Wilson Nyaga Muisrael, will be contesting for a second term under the UDA ticket.

Speaking outside the IEBC offices in Kathwana, the incumbent Governor said they have been cleared by the Commission and are now ready for re-election.

“We have been issued a certificate for participation, meaning we are no longer aspirants but candidates,” said Muthomi

Among other gubernatorial aspirants cleared include Professor Erastus Njoka (Jubilee Party), Felix Gitari Mbiuki (Chama Cha Kazi), Dr. Mzalendo Kibunja (NARC Kenya) and Francis Kagwima (Wiper Party).

The County Elections Manager (CEM), Mohamed Raka, said that the aspirants have met all the qualifications for clearance.

Meanwhile professor Erastus Njoka launched his manifesto “The Transformative Agenda” on Monday after the Commission cleared him and his running mate, Geoffrey Mucee Rukunja, to vie for the County’s top seat.

CEM Raka urged politicians to carry out peaceful campaigns and refrain from uttering incitive statements that could make their supporters react inappropriately.

Elsewhere, Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner Norbert Jara Komora has called upon residents to elect leaders who can develop and transform the County.
